Rad Reads: Quarantine Edition

Rad Reads: Quarantine Edition ft. The Devil Wears Prada, The Sex Lives of Cannibals, The Girls Series by Rachel Hollis, In Five Years and One Step at a Time.

When quarantine came around I figured it was a good time to sit down with a book or two or a few. Reading turned out to be a nice escape from the world when it started to feel heavy. Today’s list is the 7 books I’ve worked my way through over the last couple of months! The majority are fiction with a couple of adventure based memoir style books thrown into the mix!

In 5 Years by Rebecca Serle

Dannie has her life figured out, that is until she has a peak into her life 5 years from now. From that point on she spends the next 5 years doing whatever she can to avoid what it is she saw. This was my first quarantine read and it was the perfect little escape from reality!

The girls series by Rachel Hollis

The Girls Series is made up of three books: Party Girl, Sweet Girl and Smart Girl. All three of the books are fun, light, and easy reads. Each book follows one of 3 friends who are navigating their way through living, working and dating in LA. I classify them as beach reads- easy, happy reads that you can read by the pool or the beach that you can stop, chat to your friends and then pick right back up no problem. If you are looking for something cheery and light for this summer I’d highly recommend!

the Sex Lives of Cannibals by J. Maarten Troost

The Sex Lives of Cannibals is Troot’s telling about moving to a little remote island in the Pacific. Sounds dreamy right? Well, what Troost shares with us is the reality that comes with moving to a pacific atoll- it’s not all palm trees and beaches.

The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger

I went on a Youtube binge one night that led me to being really fascinated with Anna Wintour. The Devil Wears Prada isn’t about Wintour, but it’s very much about the world she is in. Plus I’ve been loving fiction lately- it’s served as nice escape from reality while in lock down.

One Step at A Time: A Climb Up Mount Kilimanjaro by Dr. Joel Batzofin

I’ve got quite the interest in Kilimanjaro lately, I can defiantly see the climb in my future. I figured with time on my hands and a strong urge to run away and explore somewhere new, I may as well start learning about the experience of hiking the world’s tallest freestanding mountain. Batzofin takes us along through his pre climb prep and details each day up on the mountain.
