Here’s to a new year, a new decade.

Here’s to creating new goals. And continuing to build off old ones. While I still will focus on some goals, after all they are a great tool to use in the process of progressing forward in all areas of life, I plan to focus a little more on intention. A little less focus on the actions and a lot more focus on the feelings and motivations behind them.

Here’s to embracing the feeling of being lost.

The last few months I’ve felt a little lost, a little confused again about where my life is headed next. I’m deciding to embrace those feelings. Lost doesn’t have to be a scary, dirty word. A little bit of lost and confusion means that I get to play, I get to take chances and try things in the process of figuring things out. Going into this year I’m allowing myself to remember that in the past, feelings of being lost have lead me to some of my most memorable adventures, introduced me to some beautiful humans, and help shape me into the version of me that I am now- and I really like that version. So I’m allowing myself to be lost. I’m allowing myself to feel confused and I’m allowing myself to trust.

Allow yourself to trust. 2020 motto. Intentional living. New Year’s mantra.

Here’s to learning.

We all have a wealth of knowledge, so much so that it can be overwhelming at times, at our fingertips thanks to the internet. If there is something you’ve been dying to learn there really is no excuse. So, this year here is to stop making excuses and learning and growing my knowledge about the things that interest me. Here’s to finally taking the time to learn how to use even the most basic of settings on my camera. Here’s to diving in and learning more about branding and marketing. Here’s to learning more about the stars and the moon and astrology. The information is out there, here’s to using it.

Here’s to asking for help.

I’ve mentioned it in a few posts, but I am learning how to be better about asking for help. I’m going to keep that ball rolling. Whether it’s with big scary things or just small things, I don’t want to fear asking for help. I don’t want to feel burdensome for asking for help. Here’s to allowing myself to reach out to my amazing people in my world.

Here’s to creating for me.

This year will be for painting, sketching, learning the art of using my canon AE-1 really really well, writing and doing it all solely because it makes me happy. So often I create with the intention to share what I’ve created which then puts a sort of pressure on myself- a pressure to perfect it, a pressure to consider how others will react to it. This year’s for creating without the intention to share. If I make something I love and as a result want to share, great, but that isn’t going to be the motivation. Here’s to focusing on the feeling and the process instead of the result.

Here’s to not forcing it.

Here’s to not forcing myself to try to adapt a super regimented routine because ultimately I don’t do great with it. If/when I end up straying from a strict schedule it does nothing but make me anxious. I don’t want to force anything in my life. If something feels wrong, then I’ll make a change. Here’s to more flow, less force.
