Tattoos in Amsterdam

Remember back in April when I went to London and Amsterdam? Actually, you probably don't. I didn't share too much about that trip on here because, I don't know, life.

Anywayyyyyyyyys.

I figured, better late than never. So, today we are talking about getting tattoos in Amsterdam.

Going into the trip I was pretty sure I wanted to get another tattoo. I had an idea of what I wanted but wasn't exactly sure what I wanted it to look like or where on my body I wanted it to be. What I did know was that I wanted to get it in Amsterdam. Why? Because Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities and I already had a place there I knew I liked.

Yep, I knew I liked a shop there. How? Well, I had gotten a tattoo during my first visit to Amsterdam a few years ago.

So, story behind the first Amsterdam tattoo:

I spent 6 weeks in 2017 backpacking in Europe with two of my oldest friends. I figured a tattoo would be a perfect souvenir. I don't know how I decided on Amsterdam as the city in which I would get my tattoo but at some pointI did (I'm glad I did though, like I said, one of my favorite cities.) Thanks to the help of Yelp I found, Body Cult, a studio that took walk ins, had good reviews, wasn't outrageously expensive and was clean.

I ended up getting the words "This adventure is everything" tattooed on my foot. The words were taken from a card that my mom wrote me when I set off on my first solo adventure and the font I had it done in is my dad's handwriting. Her words, his writing.

Okay, so back to the most recent trip to Amsterdam. My friend who I was traveling with, Caitlin, was down for tattoos which solidified my decision to get one. Caitlin and I headed to Bodycult, explained what we wanted, and had appointments for a few hours later.

I decided on getting the words "be better" tattooed on my arm. It's meant to serve as a reminder to always strive to fill my days with positive actions so that I can go to bed each night feeling like I am a little bit better than I was the day before. It is a reminder that I want to continuously work to be better for myself, the people I love, an this beautiful planet.

So, I guess you could say I have this habit of getting tattoos in Amsterdam. I guess there are worse habits to develop there, right? I like my Amsterdam tattoos because they remind me of a place I love and the memories I have there.

I'm sure I will end up with more tattoos from around the globe for that very same reason.
