Birthday Surf
Today is Delaney's 15th birthday and not long after I woke up she came into my bedroom wearing her surf hood (my parents bought her a surf hood, gloves, and booties yesterday as her birthday present and while at the surf shop I decided I might as well buy myself some as well) asking to go surf because according to the surf report there should have been some 1ft waves to play around on.
So we headed to the beach, suited up in everything but our hoods and headed our for a birthday surf.
I have to say, today was the cleanest waves I have ever surfed in Lake Michigan. The waves were coming in straight lines and noticeable sets instead of its usual washing machine like style. The waves were clean enough that Delaney momentarily thought we were in the ocean instead of the lake and thought she saw a jellyfish...
Our new cold water gear is amazing, so amazing my feet were almost too warm while we were out in the water! After being in the water for about two hours, warm as can be, the waves started to die down and we headed in.
I may or may not have asked Lane if our sister surf session could count as her birthday present.
I have to say, I really don't think there is a better way to start the day that in the water, especially on a birthday- HAPPY BIRTHDAY LANE.
